A Sunday in the Life...

Days like today are the best! Some people might not see the joy in a Sunday where we didn't get out of our pajamas until almost 4:30pm, they might suggest that it is boring, and that we must hate our lives, but it's quite the opposite.

Andy played in Angola last night, which meant he didn't get home until 3am. I am unable to sleep until I know he's safe, and Emmett was a hungry boy last night waking up every 1 1/2 hours until finally giving me a 3 hour rest after 6 am feeding. Andy got up with Wyatt, and took him downstairs so I could rest with Emmett.

I woke up several times to thundering laughter coming from downstairs as Wyatt and Andy played heaven knows what, probably rough housing. I was also woken up when Emmett needed to feed. What's better than that? Knowing your child and husband are having fun and being able to provide for your infant exactly what he needs is the best feelings a mom can have.

Emmett and I stayed up stairs just hanging out. He recently discovered how to giggle, and that coupled with his smile, made me just want to enjoy 1 on 1 time with him. Eventually Wyatt and Andy came up to check on us, and the 4 of us stayed upstairs just snuggling, talking, singing, and watching Wyatt be a train, his new favorite pretend game.

Wyatt and I made lunch, home fries, roasted Brussel sprouts, and glazed pork chops. He has been very into creating in the kitchen, so we worked on his knife skills today. He cut up strawberries for the parfaits we made for dessert. No worries, I was with him, watching like a hawk and helping as needed. --Oh, and it was a plastic knife! ;)

We have been encouraging Wyatt to get out of his comfort zone with foods. We are asking everyone for their support, not making any special foods for Wyatt at least until he tries what we're eating. He's done very well with it, no fighting, no worries because he knows that we'll feed him no matter what,  but I am not going to be a short order cook. Andy and I are not advocates of the"clean plate club," nor do we feel it necessary to force anything on anyone, but I don't want a child who will only eat chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and mac and cheese.

Recently Wyatt has rediscovered that he likes tacos, he's tried broccoli, and that he enjoys zucchini bread! But back to the day...

After lunch we played and Wy determined he had to wear his glasses like daddy, lol.
then time came to get ready to go to my in laws house. Everyone bathed. Wyatt asked me to help Emmett take a bath, he loves helping with that, and Emmett loves baths. We dressed everyone up and left.

My mother-in-law was shocked to see us arrive. Apparently Andy had spoken to my father-in-law, but hadn't told him that we were coming over for
dinner.  Andy assumed that Larry knew that was his intentions, but never said anything.  Ahh the joys!  Fortunately,  Nancy had food that could be made on the fly!

Emmett got to meet Cody, his cousin who's recently moved back to the area after working in Oklahoma City for a few years. They watched football together, while Andy and Wyatt built train tracks, and we all did various things.
Wyatt played with Alicia until it was time to go home. He had his baby doll tonight, as seen in the picture. They played so hard that Wyatt fell asleep on the ride home.

Emmett woke up though,
so he and I got more 1 on 1 time after I made Andy's lunch for tomorrow.  I really need to get some sleep, tomorrow is our weekly volunteering day, and that will be the start of another week of perfect days! (And sleep deprived parents, and cranky kids, messy diapers, and all that jazz, lol)
